• Linking to GSM Web site: When viewers connect to your résumé link on the GSM Web site, they should first be connected to your résumé, as opposed to your personal Web site. (You are encouraged to add a link from your résumé to your personal site).

• Format: Strive for basic consistency with your printed résumé.

• Length: Your Web résumé may be longer than one page; we do not recommend more than two pages. The maximum length is four pages.

• Heading: Your heading should still include the basics, such as name, address, phone, email, Web site link, etc. (You have more flexibility here in terms of how much personal info you can choose to include. For example, some people may only wish to list a phone number and e-mail address. Make sure a hiring manager does not have to hunt you down to contact you).

• Fonts: Stick to a web-safe (Times New Roman, Arial, etc.) Don't go any smaller than 10 pt. type for your regular text. Don't use more than two font colors, for example, black text and blue links.

• Presentation: The basic order of information is still the same, such as starting with your education at the top.

• Background color: Feel free to use a light background color or subtle background image on your résumé (e.g. marbling), but be conservative.

• Create key links on your résumé: We recommend a minimum of two: e-mail address and education. (Company links can also be beneficial). If you use links, use only one standard link color and check to make sure the links are currently active and working.  Consider using general navigation control and 'back to top' links.

• Use your common sense and your best judgment:  The Graduate School of Management reserves the right to pull from the server anything we deem to be unprofessional or inappropriate.  Career management is a lifelong process. One of the best ways to ensure a long and successful career is to learn the strategies and tools of proactive career management.
