Open Positions for 2009-2010 academic year and Fall Quarter 2009

Fall 2009 MGT  170 25% position

25% = 10 hours per week
50% = 20 hours per week

Qualifications

MGT 170 TA position: Applicants must have had course work in accounting.

MGT 180 TA position: Applicants must have had course work in Economic Modeling.

MGT 11A & B TA positions: Applicants must have a strong background in accounting or have completed MGT 200A, Financial Accounting with a B+ or better.

Responsibilities

Teaching assistants are responsible for conducting discussion sections, holding office hours, and grading homework.  Although TA's are not required to attend lectures, you may be asked to administer midterms and finals for lecture and be asked to hold extra office hours during midterms/finals.  MGT 11B TA's will be asked to lead 3 discussion sections, while Technology Management Minor positions will be asked to lead 2 discussion sections.

MGT 200A TA will be responsible for 2.5 hours of weekly office hours for daytime students, answering student questions via email, assisting in grading, and (if possible) administering the final for the daytime and Sacramento programs.

The title Reader is given to a graduate or undergraduate student appointed for the ability to render diverse services as a "course assistant," which will normally include the grading of student papers and examinations. A Reader will not be assigned the responsibilities of leading discussion or laboratory sections.

Salary and Benefits

A 25% teaching assistant appointment receives $910.61 monthly stipend and fee remission. Teaching Assistants appointed to Summer Sessions are appointed by the Office of Summer Sessions and fee remission is not applicable for summer appointments, since there are no MGT courses offered during summer. (no fee remission on WP courses)

All reader appointments will receive $12.72 per hour worked plus a fee remission. (No fee remission on WP courses)

A 50% teaching assistant appointment receives $1,821.22 monthly stipend
A 25% teaching assistant appointment receives $910.61 monthly stipend

Teaching assistants appointment of 25% or higher receive a fee remission.

Applications are due: Monday, September 14 by 5:00 pm. Submit applications to via email or you can turn them in person in Gallagher Hall Room 3108B.  Please indicate on your application if you are applying for one or more positions.

Note: Please DO NOT apply if you are not able to teach the discussion sections listed in the schedule. (TAs are not required to attend lectures, however are sometime asked to administer and proctor exams)
