Students with Disabilities
Federal and state law and University of California policies
require the University to provide reasonable accommodations in its
academic programs to students with disabilities, including
students with learning disabilities. For more information on
resources available to students with disabilities, contact the
Office of Admissions and Student Services Office in Room 106 AOB IV or the
Student Disability
Center (DRC) in 160 South Silo, 752-3184.
Registering for
Classes
Students register for classes via the web using SISWEB.
Detailed instructions for registering via
the web are published quarterly in the UC Davis Class Schedule and
Registration Guide which may be purchased at the UCD Bookstore and
is available online on the Registrar's Office.
Be sure to register for your classes before the fee payment
deadline, since registering for your classes is what generates a
fee statement. Not registering on time will result in receiving a
fee statement after the fee payment deadline, which will require
you to pay a $50 late fee to register.
Quarterly class schedules are on our website. If you are enrolling in a section
of MGT 299, contact the GSM Admissions and Student Services office
to obtain a 299 Request Form. MGT 299 courses must first be
sponsored by a GSM faculty member (not an adjunct) and approved by
the GSM Graduate Advisor before Admissions and Student Services
can issue you a Course Registration Number. All 299 courses are 3
units. MGT 299 forms are
available in the Admissions and Student Services office in 106 AOB
IV or on the website.
Please note: All MGT courses, including MGT 298 elective
courses, are three (3) unit courses. Definition of “Full-time”
students for registration purposes as defined by University of
California: To be defined as a “full-time” graduate student at
UC Davis, you must be enrolled in at least 12 units during any
given quarter.
Adding and Dropping Classes
Deadlines for adding or dropping classes are published each
quarter in the UC Davis Class Schedule and Registration Guide.
After the add and drop deadlines have passed, students are
required to get both the dean’s and the instructor’s approval
to add or drop a course. Students may obtain a Permission to Add
(PTA) /Permission to Drop (PTD) form from the Office of Admissions
and Student Services and have the appropriate signatures on the
form before Student Services staff can issue the student a PTA or
PTD number.
Once the student has the PTA/PTD number, the student can then call
RSVP or go to the web site and use the PTA/PTD number to enroll in
or drop the course. A PTA/PTD number is always used in combination
with the CRN. You must use the PTA/PTD number within three days
after the day it is issued by the Admissions and Student Services
office. PTA/PTD numbers expires after the third day and is no
longer valid. PTA/PTD numbers are not available after the seventh
week of the quarter.
Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society
The mission of Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic
achievement and personal excellence in the study and practice of
business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest
national recognition a business student can receive at an AACSBI
school. Its membership of 375,000 comprises the brightest
and best of business leaders.
Full-time students, who have completed 36 units of coursework by
the end of their first year (spring quarter) and rank in the top
20 percent of eligible full-time students, are offered
membership in Beta Gamma Sigma (usually in late October, early
November) and recognition is given at the annual Student
Recognition Gala in December. (Note: There is no GPA
cut-off for membership. GPA ranges vary year to year
depending on how many eligible students are in the pool.)
Independent
Study - MGT 299
Students may design a course of independent study (MGT 299) under
the supervision of a faculty member (not an adjunct) and with
authorization of the Graduate Advisor. Courses of independent
study will be assigned a grade of Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. For
more information on MGT 299, please refer to Section 4.7 in the
Policy and Procedures Manual.
Testing Out of a Core Class
Students may "test out" of a core class by passing an
exam given by the course professor. Testing out of a class does
NOT mean equivalent course credit has been given. A substitute
course must be taken and the 72 unit requirement must still be
fulfilled. Refer to GSM Policies and Procedures section for
policies covering "testing out" of core courses. Once
the faculty notifies the Student Services office, Student Services
will then e-mail you to let you know you have successfully tested
out of the core class.
Student Evaluations of Classes &
Professors
At the end of each quarter, students are asked to evaluate each
course in which they are enrolled. The anonymous course evaluation
will be used by the Graduate School of Management in evaluating
its instructional program and academic personnel and will be
helpful to the instructor in course planning and teaching
improvement. Instructors will not be able to review evaluations
until after grades have been turned in.
Academic Good Standing
The University requires that graduate students maintain a
cumulative GPA of 3.0 to remain in good standing and to receive a
degree. The requirement is absolute and cannot be waived. See
Academic Probation in the GSM Policy and Procedures Section 7.1
Code of Academic Conduct
The University of California has a Code of Academic Conduct by
which all students must abide. This code is published each quarter
in the UC Davis Class
Schedule and Registration Guide. All members of the academic
community are responsible for the academic integrity of the Davis
campus. Existing policies forbid cheating on examinations,
plagiarism and other forms of academic dishonesty. Academic
dishonesty is contrary to the purposes of the University and will
not be tolerated. Details may be obtained from the
Student
Judicial Affairs, located at 300 Dutton Hall, (530) 752-1128.

grades, they may request a copy of their transcript from the

Withdrawal &
Planned Educational Leave

Educational Leave Program (PELP) are available in the Office of
Admissions and Student Services. Please read Section 9 for
the PELP policy. The PELP form must be signed by the dean and are
due on the first day of the quarter you planned to withdraw.
Grievance Policy
A complete copy of the UCD Grievance Policy may be obtained from
the Office of Student Activities and Judicial Affairs. The Policy
outlines the course of action for grievances related to problems
with a faculty member, clerical and procedural grading errors,
discrimination, sexual harassment, petitions for variance and/or
changes of any sort in the degree requirement, admission/rejection
to a degree program, and other specific grievances which may
arise. For further information contact the Coordinator of Student
Judicial Affairs, located at 300 Dutton Hall, (530) 752-1128.
